Kumo is a fictional sushi and omakase restaurant in Düsseldorf’s “Little Tokyo”: ten seats at a hinoki counter, a dining room with long oak tables, a weekday lunch bento and a catering service for offices. The demo shows how a restaurant with several different offers – a luxury counter, casual dinners, quick lunches and catering – can present them clearly on one website and take the right kind of booking for each.
The problem this website solves
A sushi restaurant that serves a €135 omakase and a €19 lunch box has two very different audiences. If both are mixed into one long menu and one reservation form, the special-occasion guest is not impressed and the lunch customer is confused. This design starts with a question – “What kind of evening are you after?” – and guides every visitor to the right experience, the right price and the right booking.
Key features in detail
1. Experience guide
The guide offers four situations. A special occasion leads to the omakase counter: about two hours, €135 per person, an optional sake pairing for €65 and ten seats at 18:00 or 20:30. Dinner with friends leads to the dining room: about 1.5 hours, €35–60 per person, groups up to 14 and vegan options for every course. A quick lunch leads to the bento box at €19, served in ten minutes, Monday to Friday 12:00–14:30. Sushi for the office leads to catering from €24 per person with 48 hours’ notice and free delivery within the city. Each answer shows duration, price, extras and a button that opens the correct booking type.
2. A menu that tells a story
The menu section presents omakase (18 pieces with miso and dessert), a sushi set with 12 nigiri and a maki roll (€38), donburi (from €22), the lunch bento (€19), a vegan omakase with 12 seasonal pieces (€95) and catering platters. A short line explains the quality promise: rice seasoned with red vinegar and fish from Tsukiji suppliers and the North Sea.
3. Reservation with deposit and dietary needs
Guests reserve the omakase counter, a dining-room table, lunch or a catering request. They choose the number of guests, enter phone and email (phone is required), and select dietary needs – none, no raw fish, vegan or allergy. The page is transparent about the counter rules: a €50 deposit per guest, arrival ten minutes early and a seat held for 24 hours until the deposit link is paid. Deposits dramatically reduce no-shows for restaurants with very few seats.
4. Chefs, reviews and FAQ
The chefs trained in Tokyo and Osaka, and the page introduces them with languages and specialities, including a sake sommelier. Reviews (4.9 / 5 from 910 reviews) praise the omakase as “a private lesson in fish” and the fast, high-quality lunch. The FAQ covers no-raw-fish options, children (the counter is for guests from 12), sake selection (about 30 small-brewery sakes) and free cancellation up to 72 hours before for counter bookings.
